Online shopping with Girlawhirl: leggings

Girlawhirl’s been wearing leggings this summer, with longer tops, under mini skirts and even to the office on the occasional Friday with a top that looks particularly office-worthy. But she knows, as soon as fall rolls around, they’ll become her layering basic. From the runways to magazine layouts, they’ve been popping up everywhere, so she’s searching for a few pair—different lengths, fabrics and colors—to integrate into her wardrobe…

Sometimes Girlawhirl fells as if she's seen it all, done it all, and tried it all. Stranded in a foreign city for a couple of days because of airline cancellations? She’s lived through that. Made dinner for friends, who brought along their friends unannounced? She’s figured out how to make food for four feed eight. Juggled competing clients at industry events? Just part of the job…

Girlawhirl finds a way to get her dirtiest workout clothes clean with win detergent

\n

Girlawhirl’s got a new sport… hot yoga. After years of trying to master the flowing movements everyone else seems to gracefully ‘get’ in her gym’s Astanga, Kundalini and Power Yoga offerings, she’s turned to the Bikram Method, otherwise known as ‘hot yoga’…

Girlawhirl is starting to despise the sound of her cell phone ringing. As soon as she hears it start to jingle, she starts to get ‘that’ feeling in the pit of her stomach. Who is it this time? What do they want? Why can’t they call her at home, later, when she’s in the mood to chat and not during the day when she’s in the office, or out and about running around a mile a minute? And even worse, she’s started to get telemarketing calls on her cell phone! Enough! She had to do something…

Can Kathryn Finney help Girlawhirl become a Budget Fashion - ista?

Preparing for her fall wardrobing, Girlawhirl is busy, busy, busy! She’s making lists, scouring magazines, scouting the stores, and checking out her favorite designers online to figure out what parts of the fall fashion offering will work for her lifestyle, her body and, most importantly, but often forgotten in the frenzy of filling up her closet, her budget…

Girlawhirl’s been looking forward to attending an upcoming industry event since the day she found out about her promotion. She’s been hearing about it for years, but never attended—her boss always did. This trade show of sorts would introduce the fashion flock to new fabrics, colors and ideas that would be incorporated into next year’s clothes…

Girlawhirl keeps her face flawless with a little help from Laura Mercier make up

Girlawhirl really prefers that her makeup look natural. She’s never subscribed to the heavy foundation look and thinks that most women look their best when their real skin shines through. Of course, the best version of her real skin is what she’s after…

For Girlawhirl buying organic is second nature. The stores in her neighborhood have a great selection of organic products, both packaged and fresh. But organic at all costs is not always her mantra because in some cases the cost of organic produce in her local stores can be double the cost of conventionally grown...

Shopping in San Francisco: Fillmore Street

Girlawhirl has shopped most of the great shopping streets of the world, from Madison Avenue in New York to London’s Knightsbridge and Oxford Streets and even Hong Kong’s Central District. But given the choice of any street, anywhere, to enjoy a great day with her Super Pals, she’d choose San Francisco’s Fillmore Street…

With the world as it is today, Girlawhirl is often asked if she is afraid to be on the road—often by herself—so much. And while Girlawhirl must admit that she’s much more careful these days than ever before: keeping her passport in a case, or in her handbag until she gets to the front of the passport control line, and even speaking in her high school Spanish, or broken Italian in certain countries or situations where her American English might cause her to stand out…
